The first step is to speak to your neighbour, out of courtesy if nothing else! If your neighbour’s tree is encroaching into your garden, then you usually have the right to prune any part that falls directly into your property.
However, it’s well worth remembering that Tree Preservation Orders protect some trees. Be sure to check a tree’s status before any work is carried out.
